Timeless modern architecture, spatial configuration and its central location make the “Berliner Congress Center am Alexanderplatz” (bcc) a unique event location in Berlin. From 1961 - 1964 Hermann Henselmann, renowned Bauhaus-influenced architect, created a visionary building complex with the House of Teachers and the Congress Hall Functionality and transparency are implemented in futuristic architecture. The buildings were put under monumental protection in the 1980s. In 2002 it was converted in a way that preserved the building‘s historic character and yet fundamentally modernizing the  facility. It now offers a significantly extended and more flexible 10,000 m2 gross floor area for events since September 2003. Located on Alexanderplatz, the bcc is within walking distance to excellent hotels, including the headquarter hotel. Alexanderplatz is also optimally linked with local public transportation, ensuring efficient connections to national and international transportation.
For ISPAD 2007, the bcc provides the right combination of short distances between meeting rooms, conference halls, poster presentation and discussion areas, and the exhibition area as well as the catering service areas. It is an ideal interactive meeting site for all delegates an  representatives.

In 1961-1964, the Haus des Lehrers ("House of Teachers") was built on Alexanderplatz together with the accompanying Kongresshalle ("Congress Hall"). Hermann Henselmann chose a box form for the 12-storey building, which was a typical solution for post-war modern sky-scraper architecture. Influenced by contemporary Mexican murals, the building was given a monumental, multicoloured frieze by Walter Womacka.

The Congress Hall (now known as the bcc) is striking for its transparency, clear forms and many interesting architectural details. The shiny aluminium dome can be seen from far away. A wide view of the cityscape opens out from the foyer. The combination of the bcc and the neighbouring House of Teachers form a tense architectural ensemble on Alexanderplatz.

More details about the congress venue can be found at the bcc"s website: www.bcc-berlin.de.
