Q: Has anybody here taken Cymbalta or abilify? Have you experienced any side effects?
I've been getting nightmares. I'm taking both medicines, cymbalta in the morning and abilify at night. Do you think any of these could be producing the nightmares? Other than the nightmare I haven't really experienced any other side effects.
A: i took cymbalta and had extremely dry eyes. couldn't take it for more than a week.
Q: What is the truth about taking "Abilify" and drinking alcohol?
My doctor prescribed me a drug called "Abilify" and all I can find is that patients should be told not to drink alcohol while taking it. I enjoy coming home from work and hanging out around the house with a beer or something in my hand. Anyone with some advice?
A: Abilify is what is known as a Central Nervous System depressant. Alcohol is also a central nervous system depressant. If you combine the two, the effects will be even greater than either one alone, but not in a good way. This is the reason that it is not recommended to take the two together
Q: Is a Abilify beneficial to anger issues associated with Bipolar disorder?
Or is it specifically for mania? Because my pdoc put my on Abilify for my anger issues and so far it's not doing much. If it's supposed to help however I'll ask for a slightly higher dosage.
I'm bipolar II btw, so I don't need it for mania.
I've been on it for a month - it helps a little bit, just not as much as other anti-psychotics did. (I quit those because of uncontrollable weight gain.)
A: I have recently started taking Abilify along with my depakote. It seems to be working. Last night I could have pulled off one of my yelling in the phone incidents, but............I didn't yeah!!!!!!! I have been taking abilify for a couple of weeks now. I do believe it is helping with my anger. It also suppresses my appetite. Depakote made me hungry.
I also take cymbalta.
Q: Will Abilify and Concerta show up as meth or cocaine on a drug test?
Will Abilify and Concerta show up as meth or cocaine on a drug test? I have a pregnant girl telling me this. I don't believe her. How can abilify and concerta show up as cocaine and meth?
A: In my honest opinion, I don't think Abilify or Concerta would show up as meth or cocaine in a drug test.
Q: Is anyone having a problem with restlessness while taking Abilify? What helps you?
I am taking Abilify 15mg for Bipolar II and the restlessness is awful. I feel like I constantly need to move around and am very nervous.
A: Do you also have problems sleeping? My husband was on it for about 2 years and never got a full 8 hours sleep. He also was restless always wanting to walk a lot, do all the wrong things like throw stuff out that should not have been thrown out and so forth. His doctor then took him off abilify and put him on risperdal. Then he gained tons of weight. Then the doctor put him on Geodon which didn't work, so now today he is trying something else. So what I'm saying is if you don't like abilify, tell your doctor because there are several choices and sometimes it takes a few tries till you get it right. One med may be good for 1 person and be totally wrong for another. So don't give up.
Q: Does anyone have experience taking the prescription medicine Abilify?
Does anyone have experience taking the prescription medicine Abilify? My doctor added this drug to what I am already taking, Remeron (Mirtazipine), and I am wondering what I might expect as far as side effects. I read that one side effect can be uncontrolled facial movements that can become permanent. I began Abilify four days ago, at 1/2 dose, taking it at night.
A: I took it 15mg/day in conjunction with a mood stabilizer because I was manic. It treated the mania within a week and I felt much better. Highly recommend Abilify. It's a great medication.
Q: What is the best time of day to take Abilify, morning or night?
I've been on Abilify for three weeks now and I've been feeling restless and draggy at the same time . . . weird, I know. I've been taking Abilify at night with my Trazadone, Effexor, Benicar, and Vytorin, but have been thinking of switching it to the morning with my Wellbutrin and Allegra. Any ideas?
A: I take Abilify 10 mg for schizophrenia. At first I took it all in the morning. Then I began to be really paranoid at night that someone would break in the house and kill me. So my psychiatrist said to take 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg at night. That worked out okay and my symptoms have been in remission for 4 years now.
Q: Does Abilify cause weight gain by slowing down the metabolism?
I have been on abilify for the last month and noticed significant weight gain. Does this med generally cause weight gain since it falls under the class of antipsychotics.
A: Yes, weight gain is a common side effect of Abilify. Sometimes, the side effect puts the patient at a higher risk for diabetes. Let your physician know.
Q: How much weight gain is expected on Abilify?
How much weight gain is expected on Abilify? I'm sensitive about gaining weight although I'm not skinny or not obese. I'd rather lose weight than gain weight!
A: I have put on 35lbs in the 6 months I've been taking Abilify. Thank god my new psychiatrist told me that was the cause!!! I would have just kept putting on weight. I quit taking it about a week ago and I notice a huge difference in my appetite. I loved Abilify until I realized it was the cause of my weight gain =/
Q: How long will it take for the side effects of going off Abilify to go away?
I was on 2mg. It's been four days and I'm still having some of the side effects that made me go off it. Maybe the better question is, how long does it take for Abilify to get out of your system? Will anything help speed up the process?
Specifically, when I close my eyes to go to sleep, they keep rolling up and its freaking me out.
Not that it hurts horribly, but it is painful.
A: It took me 9 days to quit having symptoms after taking Abilify. There is no way to speed up the process. Hang in there!
Q: taking Abilify long term: does the restlessness ever diminish or go away?
I am taking Abilify 5mg a day for one month. Does the restlessness feeling, Akathisia, diminish or go away after a time. Also, what are some ways to counteract this feeling without taking more other medication.
Abilify helps me alot with feelings of hurt and anger and getting upset. If there is a better med for this I would like to know. I was on lamictal before but unfortunately I developed a rash and had to discontinue. Thank you.
A: Like all medicines, everyone reacts differently. That is why you have to be on the right mix of meds for U. Most side effects including but not limited to the reslessness will subside within a month or two. You have to be patient with these meds and give them a chance to work before switching to another med. It will be well worth your patience in the long run. Good luck. I wish you the very best.
